Our Programs

BACR provides direct services to individuals and families needing support to overcome barriers to success. The Alcohol and Drug, Tobacco and Mental Health Program delivers prevention and treatment services to youth and adults having a broad spectrum of needs, ranging from the need for basic information to treatment for chronic alcoholism and drug recovery. Our environmental prevention services aim to change community norms about alcohol, drugs and tobacco use.

BACR supports young people to make positive decisions about their health, education, and employment. Youth Development Programs are youth-led, foster civic engagement, and promote community improvement. To ensure that services are accessible, our projects and outreach activities are delivered in a range of school- and community-based settings.

BACR After School Programs provide nurturing and enjoyable environments where students improve their academic skills. We believe in integrating the principles and practices of youth development into all after school activities. BACR believes it is our responsibility to understand and serve the needs of schools, students and parents in after school programs.

Giving back is vital to healthy development. Through BACR's National Service Program, participants achieve personal benefits by having opportunities to contribute to community improvement. Communities benefit as well through the tutoring, mentoring and health education provided by BACR's Americorps members.

Community Health Programs work to increase the capacity of communities and institutions to prevent and reduce chronic disease. Our health advocacy and broad based health promotion services aim to educate the community about how lifestyle affects health. We work directly with specific populations having or at high risk for conditions such as obesity, diabetes and heart disease to engage them in healthy-living activities.
